June 6, 2008
California, Sacramento: The California Secretary of State, Debra Bowen,
certified for the state ballot, a measure that would define marriage as
“between a man and a woman.” The measure is expected to go to the 36 million
voters in that State this November. Currently, the issuance of marriage
licenses for homosexual couples is still scheduled for June 17th and
many twosomes are intending to be “married” on that date. There is some
question what will happen if these people are “married” and then in November, a
ballot measure with a different definition of “a married couple” passes.

“Knowing how little of grace is
accepted and realized in our own personal lives, we can imagine how much of His
grace is spurned or rejected by those around us. In this way we come to
understand, too, why there yet exists so much evil, sin, violence, wars,
hatred, immorality, persecution of religion, and denial even of God himself in
the world today. These things must follow, so long as men refuse to accept
God’s grace and do His will The kingdom of God, reintroduced among men by the
Incarnation of Christ—who came to set us a most perfect example of a man
totally dedicated in all things and at all times to the will of the
Father—cannot and will not be established until all men live each day of their
lives according to His example. ‘The kingdom
of God is within you,’ He
told us. How obvious yet how profound these words seem to me. –He Leadeth Me—Father Walter Ciszek--

“Welcoming Schools:” What is
the Welcoming Schools curriculum? Although claimed to be an anti-bullying
program for the Minneapolis Public Schools, it seems that the anti-bulliers may just be the bullies themselves. This is taken
from the Minneapolis Star-Tribune and is written by Katherine Kersten.
“Teachers begin lessons by questioning students to
identify their current beliefs. Then they use group exercises, films and books
to convince the kids that any traditional attitudes they harbor about family
structure and homosexuality are harmful "stereotypes." At the end of
a lesson, teachers "evaluate" students to ensure that their views now
pass official muster.
One fill-in-the-blank phrase that students are to
complete during evaluation says it all: "I used to think, but now I know
..."
The "Family Diversity Photo Puzzle," a
typical lesson for grades 1-3, exemplifies this approach.
In the exercise, the teacher instructs students to arrange
photos of adults and children to create seven families. But the exercise is
rigged, though children don't know it.
"The packets of photographs selected make it
impossible to create seven 'traditional' families: that is, families that
include a mother, a father and children," says the curriculum guide.
"Students will find that they must create some families with adults of the
same gender. ..." and then decide how to label the members.
The guide advises teachers to use their authority to encourage
the right answer: "[I]t is helpful for students if you use your own set of
photos to create a family with two moms and/or two dads."
When the lesson is over, the teacher exhorts students
to examine their beliefs, confess their errors and commit to reform.
"Were there types of families you didn't
create?" asks the teacher. "Why do you think you didn't create those
families?" (In other words, what's wrong with you?) "If you did this
activity again, would you do anything differently?" (Hmm, I wonder what
the right answer is to that one?)
"Welcoming Schools" uses the same strategy
in its section on expanding "gender norms." (The guide advises
teachers to avoid referring to their class as "boys and girls."
"For some children," it explains, "identifying as a boy or girl
in order to participate in an activity creates internal dissonance.")
Students are evaluated on "whether or not [they] feel comfortable making
choices outside gender expectations."
At Hale
School, some parents are
up in arms. While they oppose bullying, they say, this is not the way to
address it. They have been explaining their concerns since February, when
Principal Bob Brancale announced in an e-mail that
"Welcoming Schools" "will be piloted ... regardless of the
personal issues or concerns of parents or staff."
"It's a direct slap at parents' face," said
Hale parent Arbuc Flomo of
the newly formed Coalition for Parents' Rights. " 'I used to think, but
now I know ...'? It's like a teacher saying to your first-grader, 'what you
learned in your seven years before coming to first grade here -- what you
learned from your parents -- is wrong.' "
Dan Loewenson of the Minneapolis School District says that parents are
free to opt their children out of the program.
After Hale parents filed formal objections to
"Welcoming Schools" in March, district leaders referred the matter to
the district's Curriculum and Instruction Committee. On May 28, the committee
will deliberate about next steps after hearing from parents and staff.

Thanks To: the Minnesota House
Republicans who made two good attempts and the Senate Republicans who had one
attempt to nullify the contract between Minnesota and the Federal Government,
that were gutted or defeated by Democrats that would have withdrawn the State
of Minnesota from the Federal Dictates of the “No Child Left Behind” program,
which, YES, is still ongoing. An
amendment was offered by a Democrat in the House, which passed unanimously, but
a Democratic dominated conference committee killed it. This amendment would
have requested that Federal Funds still be given to Minnesota schools, even if the State did not
comply with the Federal restrictions and regulations. Thank you to those of you
who tried to be rid of the “No Child Left Behind” program in Mn.
An Article: titled: “Proud
Of Being Catholic” was written by Jewish businessman Sam Miller of Cleveland. In praise of
the Catholic Church, he states: The Catholic Church has 230 colleges and
universities in the United
States with an enrollment of 700,000
students. 92% of Catholic students receiving a Bachelor’s Degree go on to
higher studies. The Catholic Church school system saves the American taxpayers
18 billion dollars annually by educating 2.6 million students everyday at a
cost of 10 billion dollars. The Catholic Church has a non-profit hospital
system of 637 hospitals which accounts for treatment of 1 in every 5 people,
not all of whom are Catholic. Mr. Miller then accuses the press of being
“vindictive in attempting to denigrate in every way, the Catholic Church in
this country.” Thank you, Mr. Miller, for seeing what so many in this country
do not question…the one-sided coverage of the press.

At This Time: when pharmacists are under attack and being
court-ordered to dispense birth-control pills, should consider praying to their
Patron Saint, John Leonardi, a pharmacist, who
founded the Clerks Regular of the Mother of God. His order was founded to
catechize the youth and clergy during the Counter-Reformation. He started a
foundation which later became Rome’s Urbanian
College for the
Propagation of the Faith, for the formation of missionary seminarians.
France, Laus: On May 4th,
local Bishop Jean-Michel di Falco
Leandri of Paris, on
behalf of the Catholic Church, officially recognized apparitions of the Blessed
Virgin Mary to a 17 year old girl named Benoite Rencurel in the small town of Laus, France, which
lasted for a period of over 50 years, from 1664 to 1718. A Church was built, as
was housing for priests. Currently approximately 120,000 pilgrims travel to the
site annually; this number is expected to rise.
Archbishop Joseph Naumann: of Kansas City denied Holy Communion to the governor of Kansas, Kathleen
Sibelius, who vetoes a bill that would have required information be given to
the mother about the development of the unborn baby and alternatives to
abortion, for women considering an abortion. However, Archbishop Donald Wuerl of Washington,
DC not only invited Speaker Nancy
Pelosi, Senator John Kerry, Senator Christopher Dodd and also Mayor Rudy Giulani to the Papal Mass in that city where they were all
given Communion.
Despite Efforts: to bring the Saint Pius X schismatic group back into
full union with the Catholic Church, the group is re-confirming their
obstinacy, even though the Holy Father has gone out of his way to promote the
traditional Tridentine Mass. The group insists that
all changes in the Church that arose from Vatican II must be denounced by the Vatican before
they would return. –CatholicNewsAssociation-
England,
London:
An incredible statement was made by Britain’s Royal College of
Psychiatrists, which issued a statement that women may be at significant rise for
psychiatric disorders following an abortion. The unfortunate catalyst that
brought this issue to light was a well-known British artist, Emma Beck, who
hanged herself just six months after aborting twins.
The Sanctity and
Institution of Marriage And The Family:
was dealt a double blow during the month of May, when the California Supreme
Court granted legality to same-sex “marriages.” Also, the state of New York
Court of Appeals declined a challenge that would require that state to
recognize same sex “marriages” thereby recognizing the “marriage” of two
lesbians that was performed in Canada;
the State of New York
must now extend health care benefits to the employees “partner.”
From The Vatican
***Cardinal Castrillon Hoyos: President on the Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei,
has narrated an introduction in union with EWTN to produce an instructional DVD
for the “Tridentine” Mass, which they will send free
of charge to any priest in the United
States. Cardinal Hoyos
is interviewed stating that the “Tridentine” Mass
should be made available so that, “Everyone may have access to this treasure of
the ancient liturgy of the Church, even if it is not specifically requested, it
should be provided so that young communities can also become familiar with this
rite.” Thus, no request need be made from a group of petitioners within the
parish, and the priests do not need the local bishop’s permission to implement
the “Summorum Pontificam”
statements made by the Holy Father. –WDTPRS-
Cardinal Castrillon Hoyos, the President of the Pontifical Commission, Ecclesia
Dei, was invited by Archbishop Fabian Bruskewitz to
ordain four priests in the “Extraordinary” form of the Mass, sometimes called
the “Tridentine” Mass. The event will be broadcast on
May 30th at 10:00 am CDT on EWTN.
The Vatican Clarified: the
celebration of holy days of obligation when celebrating the extraordinary form
of the Roman rite according to the 1962 Missal, reported the bishops'
conference of England and Wales.
The episcopal conference submitted a query to the
Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei, which confirmed that in the Roman rite,
whichever form of the liturgy is being celebrated, the holy days of obligation
are to be held in common. Where the obligation has been removed and the holy
day transferred to the Sunday, this is to be followed in both ordinary and
extraordinary celebrations of Mass, the pontifical commission clarified.
Catholics are obliged to go to Mass on holy days of obligation. Some holy days
of obligation vary according to the decisions made by local episcopal
conferences. There are differences in the calendars corresponding to the
extraordinary and ordinary forms of the Mass, with many feast days falling on
different dates in the two missals.
Zenit-
Clergy Adoption Program: Pope
Benedict XVI endorsed a program initiative from the Congregation for Clergy
that asks for “spiritual mothers” to adopt a priest in order to offer prayers
and hours of Eucharistic Adoration for his sanctification. Is there such a
program in your parish?
Pope Benedict XVI: presented a remarkable address at Catholic University,
in which he said, “As the world has since seen, sex without responsibility is
sex without love. The "free love" of these sexual revolutionaries
turned out to be not so free at all, but rather was emotionally and physically
destructive on a grand scale.” It is an excellent address to the young adults
of our nation. It is worth your time to read the summation on this. See: LifeNews.com.
NOT
From The Vatican
Supposedly The Vatican:
stated that they endorsed belief in people from other planets. This is what the
mainstream news reported; however, as happens so many times, this is NOT what
occurred. Rather, the Vatican has an astronomer, who, when asked if there was
life on other planets said, “Well, I suppose if there was a being from another
planet standing in front of you, you’d have to consider it.” That is a far cry from a declaration.
Remember, if the Vatican
issues a statement, it must be in writing on proper letterhead, with an
authorized signature and the document will have a number. None of these
occurred with this topic.
Washington, DC:
Both the Federal Senate and House passed the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination
Act which will prevent employers and health insurers from discriminating
against people on the basis of their family member’s genetic information. The
bill is meant to protect the most vulnerable members of our society, meaning
any disabled human being. The US Conference of Catholic Bishops praised the
measure.
The Overpopulation People:
couldn’t be more wrong. Data indicates that our planet has under-population on
a global scale. There are now 59 nations with 44% of the world’s population with
below replacement birthrates. Europe needs a
2.1 birthrate just to replace current population, but has only 1.3, meaning by
2030 they will experience a 20 million shortfall of workers. Russia is expected to lose 1/3 of
its population by 2050. –LifeNews-
“Border:” a new documentary film
about many important ongoing issues with our southern border with Mexico, currently is finding great resistance
from Hollywood
and cannot find a distributor for the film. So it is being made available to
everyone at: www.bordermovie.com for those who would like to order a DVD.
Joel Rosenberg: is
the author of Epicenter, and is known for humanitarian work for victims
of war in Israel, Lebanon and Palestine. He states that large numbers of
Moslems in the Middle East who are converting
to Christianity through the efforts of the Evangelicals. For example: In Afghanistan
an estimated 10,000 have converted since 9/11—A local television station was
showing a two hour presentation of the Gospel of Luke, and authorities shut
down the entire station. In Uzbekistan,
there have been an estimated 30,000 converts since 1990. In Iraq more than
70,000 have come to Christ since the first Gulf War in 1990. In Kazakhstan an
estimated 100,000 have converted. In Egypt in 2005, 600,000 copies of
the Gospel of Luke were sold, and 750,000 Bibles; that same year, a prayer
conference drew 20,000 people. In Iran, over 1 million Shia Muslim converts have joined. And in the Sudan, more
than 5 million have become Christians since the early 1990’s, one million alone
since 9/11. This makes 9/11 all the more
incredible, that these people did not die in vain…9/11 has spurned a new
insurgence of believers to Jesus Christ, even though these Mid Easterners face
torture and execution for their change of religious beliefs. In 2009, a
documentary titled, “The Revolution” will be coming out regarding this
phenomenon. (another topic one does not see in the mainstream media)
Medjugorje Monthly Message
May 25, 2008:
“Dear Children, In this time of grace, when God has permitted me to be with
you, little children, I call you anew to conversion. Work on the salvation of
the world in a special way while I am with you. God is merciful and gives
special graces, therefore, seek them through prayer. I am with you and do not
leave you alone. Thank you for having responded to my call.”
On Their Way To Sainthood
Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos: was born in Germany
in 1819. He realized he had a calling to missionary work, and, upon entering
the United States,
became a Redemptorist
Priest in this country in 1843. Although he was assigned to various
cities such as Pittsburgh, (where he worked under St. John Neumann)
Connecticut, Illinois, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island
and Wisconsin where he preached to the new immigrant population in German. He
is most noted for his assignment working with the poor at St. Mary of the
Assumption parish in New Orleans,
Louisiana, where in 1867, he died
of yellow fever because of his caring for the sick. Although foreign-born, he
would be one of the few American canonized saints. He is an example of the many
fine nameless priests who have given so much for their flock.

Father Frank Pavone: of “Priests For Life” has placed several talks
about abortion on YouTube. If anyone you know needs to have information about
abortions, see Father Pavone at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=us_y9GP_-DA or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBOAPleF1t0 or

To Their Great Disgrace: Planned Parenthood did not send food or water or
blankets to the destitute population of Myranmar, but
rather sent thousands upon thousands of condoms to those people.
France,
Strasbourg: The Council of Europe, made up of 47 member nations,
passed a resolution in its Parliamentary Assembly calling on its member nations
to both legalize abortions in nations where it currently is not permitted, and
for nations already participating in abortion to make it easier to obtain the
surgical procedure. Fortunately, this body does not carry the weight of the
European Union, but the trend indicated by this body, is unfortunate.
Japan,
Tokyo: The Japanese government is reporting the death of 48
people who have taken their own lives through the use of a manual to commit
suicide found on the internet. The National Police there have specifically
requested internet service providers, telecom firms and caable
broadcasters to help remove the information or to block access to it.
Massachusetts, Boston: Fourteen year old Haleigh Poutre sustained serious brain injury from being kicked
down a flight of stairs by her step-father, which was reported to officials by Heleigh’s sister. She was believed to be in an irreversible
coma, and was admitted to a pediatric rehabilitation hospital where the State
of Massachusetts
took custody of her, and asked the State Supreme Court for permission to remove
her feeding tube. However, the child made an incredible recovery, and was
actually able to testify against her attacker by explaining with her hand
gestures and pointing to letters. This story MUST become a statement regarding
how physicians assess the condition of those in Haleigh’s
condition, and also for judges to carefully weigh, the next time a dehydration
request is made on a cognitively disabled patient.
South
Dakota, Pierre: The November ballot will have another opportunity
for voters in that State to greatly ban about 98% of abortions. This new ballot
measure will permit abortions only in those cases to save the mother’s life, or
in cases of rape or incest.
South Korea, Seoul: The world’s first cloned dog, Snuppy,
is being used for breeding by artificially inseminating two female dogs.
Evidently this has been tried before since Professor Lee Byung-Chun
stated that, in the past, the second generation of cloned animals has been
malformed.
Switzerland, Geneva: During their Universal Periodic Review, the United
Nations Human Rights Council admonished Poland for failing to, “Facilitate
access to abortion for women who qualify for this,” stating that the country was not,
“Undertaking the fulfillment by each State of its human rights obligations and commitments…” according to the United
Nations mandates. In the past, this nation stood up to the communists, and the
homeland of Pope John Paul II continues to remain strong in its stance on human
life.
Texas, Fort Worth: The United
Methodist Church,
which met at their General Conference held every four years, is turning a
corner and becoming more pro-life. This year they adopted a resolution to,
“Respect the sacredness of the life and well-being of the mother and the unborn
child,” and voted to urge parental notification and consent when teenagers are
seeking abortions. They deleted language from a previous United Methodist
statement that had been used to support abortion as a means of back-up birth
control, and delegates voted to speak up against the international problem of
sex-selection abortions. The delegates also voted to promote the work of crisis
pregnancy centers and encouraged local churches to get involved in supporting
them. This is wonderful news.
Washington, DC: Federal Representative Chris Smith and Senator Sam
Brownback have introduced bills into the House and Senate, respectively, that
would ban human-animal hybrid cloning. The measure is termed, the Human-Animal
Prohibition Act, and will prohibit such cloning which would involve the
destruction of human life. Cardinal Justin Regali,
Chairman of the USCCB committee on pro-life activities supports the measure, stateing, “This is an opportunity to rein in an egregious
and disturbing misuse of technology to undermine human dignity.
Washington, DC: The Center for Disease Control issued new statistics
indicating a decided drop in abortions in this country. They found that 38% of
the pregnancies in 2004 were to women 25 years of age or younger, a drop from
43% in 1990. Teenagers in 1990 accounted for 15% of abortions, and in 2004 that
figure dropped to 12%. The total number of pregnancies fell 6% overall.
